NAVSTREETS®

NAVSTREETS is a NAVTEQ-defined format that enables NAVTEQ® map data to be uploaded into commercially available Geographic Information System (GIS) tools. NAVSTREETS is a layered representation of NAVTEQ map data and is available in two GIS formats:

  • ESRI® Shapefile Format – layered, GIS-oriented, representation of NAVTEQ data, delivered in ESRI Shapefile format; compatible with ESRI ArcView™ 3.x and ArcGISTM 8.x – 9.x software suites
  • MapInfo® Table Format – layered, GIS-oriented, representation of NAVTEQ data, delivered in MapInfo's native (TAB) format; compatible with MapInfo Professional® 5.x and above

NAVSTREETS provides the most navigable attributes available in a database. Utilizing the data to its fullest allows the user to access features such as expressway ramps; complete and correct connectivity of all roadways; one-way streets; physical, logical, and legal turn restrictions; construction projects; and physical and painted lane dividers. In addition to these navigable attributes, NAVSTREETS provides address ranges down to the level of the correct side of the street. Mapping applications are enhanced with five functional classifications of roads, and polygonal representation of features such as airports, aircraft roads, cemeteries, golf courses, hospitals, military bases, parks, national monuments, public use areas, pedestrian zones, shopping centers, sports complexes, undefined traffic areas, university/colleges, and woodlands.

Additional NAVSTREETS highlights include:

  • Programming language supported by commercially available GIS packages (e.g., Visual Basic&trade, MapBasic™)
  • Out-of-the-box functionality for mapping and spatial analysis using commercially available GIS tools
  • Based on SIF+ Extract (ASCII Flatfile) of the NAVTEQ database
  • Data tables allow unlimited modification by the end user
  • Secondary compilation is required to enable routing and geocoding software utilization on a set of NAVSTREETS data tables

NAVSTREETS is delivered as a premium product on DVD media. The delivery includes the NAVTEQ map data and database statistics files. There are also supplementary DVDs that contain the NAVSTREETS Customer Technical Reference Manual (CTRG), electronic scope book, and data product release notes.
