Several NAVTEQ employees are alumni of Illinois, including CEO Larry Kaplan and research scientist Matei Stroila. Through Matei Stroila, we have established a collaboration that has included internships, sponsored research and a recent NAVTEQ scanning of the Urbana-Champaign Campus. We have taught several courses on topics of interest to NAVTEQ including point-based modeling, and most recently Matei Stroila has become an Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Dept. of CS at Illinois and in Spring 2011 will teach CS498 Augmented Reality for Personal Navigation.
