2007 JavaOne Technical Session Recap

The 2007 JavaOne Conference in San Francisco, CA this month was a hit for NAVTEQ. In addition to our Gold Sponsorship of the event, NAVTEQ held a technical track to a sold-out room. The presentation was titled 'Developing Web 2.0 Mapping Applications' and delivered by Eric Dylewski, NAVTEQ TCS and Geoff Hendrey, deCarta Software Architect. The goal of the presentation was to provide a technical introduction to NAVTEQ geospatial data, AJAX mapping APIs, and Web Services best practices. Route calculation is the software component in a navigation system that determines the best route between two places according to the user's preferences, traffic conditions, etc. It is a computation-intensive process that processes large amounts of data in order to determine the best route.
