Sony Ericsson is a co-sponsor of the 2009 NAVTEQ Global LBS Challenge and Sony Ericsson Developer World is providing qualifying contestants with the phones and software tools required to enable Java™ ME and Project Capuchin application creation.
Project Capuchin
Sony Ericsson’s Project Capuchin technology is a Java™ ME API that defines a bridge between the Java ME and Adobe® Flash Lite™ programming environments. This API makes it possible to use Flash Lite as the front end and Java ME as the back end of applications, meaning that Flash tools can be used for UI design while still having access to all the phone services available to Java ME.
Sony Ericsson Developer World offers Project Capuchin tools, documents and getting started tutorials here.
The first phone to support the Project Capuchin API is the Sony Ericsson C905 Cyber-shot™. Read more here.
Sony Ericsson phones featuring GPS and aGPS
Many Sony Ericsson phone series feature GPS and aGPS, and support the Location API (JSR 179), including:
- C702 Cyber-shot™ phone
- W760 Walkman™ phone
- XPERIA™ X1 phone
- Z780 web-enabled phone
Sony Ericsson Developer World presents phone specification data in a searchable configuration allowing you to identify which Sony Ericsson phones support a large range of features and formats. If you already know which phone model you want to view, a detailed phone overview page is available from the main gallery page here.
