It can provide a revenue stream by which you can help reduce map and dynamic content costs (NAVTEQ content like; traffic, movies, weather, etc.).
How does NAVTEQ LBA differ from other ad networks?
NAVTEQ’s LBA network provides a full service solution with a dedicated ad sales force, dynamic ad platform, customer support, revenues based on ads, full ad reporting, easy plug-in APIs, and high value call to actions.
Who sells the NAVTEQ LBA Advertising?
NAVTEQ sells the LBA solution and is heavily promoted by its partners.
What types of business models are supported for NAVTEQ LBA? How do I make money?
Full subscription and buy-down ad supported models are currently available. The Ad supported model provides a return for the ads shown to consumers through the application/device.
Are partner developers and manufacturers required to offer advertising when working with NAVTEQ data?
No. There is a full subscription available for partners and manufacturers that do not create an ad supported revenue stream.
How do I start to work with NAVTEQ’s LBA services?
Contact the Location Based Advertising team either through your NAVTEQ Account Executive or through the www.NN4D.com/LBA site. These resources provide a wealth of information about LBA and why this opportunity may be right for your needs.
Where can I get access to technical information? What is available?
The www.NN4D.com/LBA site provides the most up-to-date information including documents that outline guidelines and API instructions for utilizing the Interactive Location Ad Platform (I-LAP). Please remember that currently you must request to receive access to these documents.
What platforms and devices do NAVTEQ’s LBA services support?
NAVTEQ LBA is provided through a suite of platform-independent APIs. Thus, it can be used within any device or application which has real-time two-way IP connectivity and some form of location awareness. This includes mobile handsets, PNDs, WAP sites, etc..
Do I have to have a GPS-enabled device or application to use NAVTEQ LBA?
No. You can support LBA on a device which uses other location technologies like Cell-ID or WiFi location. You can also target advertising around locations of interest to the user, which may be derived from the content (i.e. a map, address, etc.) being viewed by the user.
Do you provide guidelines for how to integrate NAVTEQ LBA into my applications or devices?
Yes. We have a full and detailed Affiliate Integration Guidelines document to help you, in addition to technical support.
What additional support does NAVTEQ provide for developers?
We are in the process of adding a Forum to the Advertising zone for developers to post questions and issues. This forum will give you access to the support and development team to help you solve any issues you encounter with LBA.
What geographies are supported with NAVTEQ LBA?
North America and Western Europe are currently supported by LBA and more markets are coming in 2009.
Is NAVTEQ LBA part of the LBS Challenge?
This year the LBA is included in the 2010 LBS Challenge as a separate category.
